About Us

Light & Legacy Performing Arts Academy is new to Covington, GA, but not new to training excellence. We serve Newton, Walton, Rockdale and Henry counties. With years of experience in dance, music, and theater education, we are passionate about nurturing creativity, confidence, and character in every student.
LIGHT AND LEGACY COMMUNITY ARTS is a non-profit 501(c) (3). From afterschool programs to summer camps and community theater arts (for children and adults), we provide a faith-centered environment where children and adults alike can grow artistically and spiritually. In addition to our youth programs, we are proud to host a Community Arts Group that welcomes teens and adults to engage in artistic expression, cultural enrichment, and personal growth through workshops, performances, and special events. Whether you’re a beginner or experienced performer, there’s a place for you here to connect, grow, and shine.
At Light & Legacy, we’re not just developing performers, we’re cultivating leaders, building confidence, and empowering individuals to use their gifts to impact the world. From the classroom to the stage, we are committed to helping every member of our community build a lasting legacy through the arts.

Established in 2007 | Reimagined in 2025
Originally established in 2007, our organization has a rich history of training youth in the performing arts, traveling the world spreading the gospel through performing arts, and empowering artist to shine both on and off the stage. After a five-year pause due to the pandemic, we relaunched in 2025 as Light & Legacy Performing Arts—with a renewed vision, expanded programs, and a new home in Covington, GA. While the name has changed, our commitment remains the same: to nurture creativity, confidence, and character through faith-based arts education and community engagement.
Our Vision
To be a transformative force in the community by nurturing confident, purpose-driven performers who use their gifts to inspire, uplift, and leave a lasting legacy through faith and arts.

Our Mission
At Light & Legacy Performing Arts Academy, our mission is to inspire and empower the next generation through the transformative power of the performing arts and academic enrichment. We are dedicated to providing a creative, nurturing, and faith-centered environment where children can develop their talents in dance, singing, and acting while excelling academically.

Our Legacy
2007
His Word N’ Motion School of Dance was established, after the Founder couldn’t find a performing arts after school and summer camp program for her daughters, that also focused on academics.
2009
We had our very first Christmas stage production, Joyland, at Porter Sanford Performing Arts in DeKalb, County. It was a sold out show.
2010
Our first community performing arts Resurrection production was sold out. Our students represented six churches. 16 people (audience and youth students) accepted Christ.
2012
Name change to Bobbie’s School of Performing Arts, after taking one year off for the health of the family. Recognized as the first Youth Musical Theatre Summer Camp in DeKalb county.
2013-2020
During these years we showcased two productions a year, over 300 families were part of fulfilling our mission and vision, and many were saved, encouraged, and uplifted through our performing arts camps, programs, and traveling ministry. Our dancers were showcased on Bobby Jones Gospel, gospel artist videos, concerts by Praise 102.5, and planted dance ministries at 25 churches in the U.S. 100% of our summer camp and afterschool program students, excelled academically, socially, spiritually and professionally.
